NIS Data
NIS
data are available in two forms-a public use dataset and a
restricted-use contractual dataset . Deductive disclosure concerns
prevent full access to all data sources.
NIS Public Data: Instructions for Downloading
Data In order to obtain access to the public use data, all users must
first register via the online registration form at the Office of
Population Research (OPR) Data Archive.
If already registered for the NIS-Pilot, log in as Registered
Users. All personal information will be kept confidential and will
be used
for administrative purposes only. We will NOT release any of
your information to third parties. This registration has the sole
purpose
of keeping a log of users for future communications.
We ask that users:
- Complete the registration process the first time they access
the data;
- Respect the confidentiality of the respondents by not attempting
to identify any individual in the data;
- Direct persons interested in the data to this page so that
they can register for and download the data themselves;
- E-mail nisopr@princeton.edu with the reference to published
materials that they author using NIS data; and
- Correctly cite the data in all publications, as follows:

NIS Revised Public Use Data
The revisions, which mainly addressed minor problems
discovered in the first year of release, is provided on the NIS
What's New web page. These revisions should not affect
analyses already completed or underway with the original release
data. Those
who previously downloaded the original version may wish to use
this revised version for subsequent analyses.
